Out of a family, of twelve children there are eleven surviving. six sons and five daughters, James, Donald, David, and Charles residing in Kildonan, Francis residing in St. Paul, and Thomas in Stonewali. The daughters are Isabella, residing in Pembina, the widow of the late Charles Cavilier, first mayor. of Pembina, and from whom the county Cavilier, N.D., derives its name: Christie, wife of the Rev.
Georfe Bruce, of Fairford: Catherine, wife of Joseph Thompson, principal of the Rupert's Land Industrial school; Julia. wife of William Clark, chief factor of the Hudson's Bay Company, residing in Winnipeg: and Jemima, wife of the Rev. Alfred Cook, residing in Kinosota. There are thirty grandchildren and two great grand children. one of the latter living in Florida and the other in Oak I Lake.
